The Social Media Declaration unveiled in Colombo on Tuesday, March 19th, with nineteen signatories. The declaration’s objective is to “foster a community that encourages the responsible use of social media and the strengthening of digital literacy, to allow for the right to access and an information-based society". The declaration also ‘recognizes digital rights as intrinsic to a society founded on principles of social justice, human dignity and prominent human and social ide als, based on a human rights’ framework. Sri Lanka Muslim Media Forum (SLMMF) also one of the nineteen signatories to acknowledge the Social Media Declaration. On behalf of the Sri Lanka Muslim Media Forum President Mr. N.M. Ameen addressed the gathering and Treasurer Mr Jemsith Azeez signed the declaration.
